And then I got brave and cooked this. Not only was I pleasantly surprised to find the salmon easy, I found I could get the same great taste or even a better taste at home.
I started out with these two salmon steaks.
Season with McCormick's Montreal Grill Seasoning. I love the taste of the fennel seed in this seasoning. It compliments the salmon as well as the great flavoring from the grill. Then give them a little squeeze of fresh lime juice.
Place the salmon on a grilling sheet or foil pan and place on a screaming hot grill. The grill sheet/ foil pan prevents the fish from sticking and tearing on the grates even if you sprayed them with non-stick cooking/grill spray. Cook approximately 3 minutes per side.
This mouthwatering treat will melt in your mouth. Try it yourself, I dare you!

There's nothing like really great salmon - this looks perfect!!!
You know this gal loves some fish and that looks wonderful! I have never used the Montreal seasoning on it, but I'm sure gonna give it a try! Thanks!!!

Like you, I've only ever ordered salmon in restaurants...or bought the canned variety and made fried patties ;D that's Hillbilly food right there!
You make it look easy...I will have to try it!
I do Salmon at home but not grilled. I season with Paul Prudhome's Salmon Seasoning then fry in a little real butter and olive oil mixed, 4 minutes on esch side. I serve it over wild rice. I'm gonna try yours too though!
We did have fun! The girl is a hoot!

Sometimes salmon seems a little strong to me, but I really like it with lime! Looks good.
That salmon looks gorgeous! Yum!
I love salmon!! Homemade is always better than restaurant. Btw, I think you're right about saying the words bread pudding and not being able to eat it. Although, I just need to look at mine to ahve that same effect..haha
When I started cooking fish years ago, Salmon was my first! After learning to cook it, it wasn't hard to venture out to others.
Thank you so much for intrducing me to McCormick's Montreal Grill Seasoning! I love it too on so many different things! You teach me so much!

This looks marvelous. I have some Montreal seasoning tucked in my spice cabinet. I'll have to give this a try.
I LOVE the way you seasoned this salmon! There is something wonderfully summery about grilled fish!
BTW, I bought some sundried tomato pesto yesterday, and I'm making your chicken cacciatore tonight. Can't wait!
I am loving fennel more and more - I am sure it would be great on this salmon. I'll be on the lookout for the seasoning.
Looks delicious!!! Can I come over?
my mouth is officially watering for Salmon!
I love fish and could eat it every day. I use the same Montreal seasoning you mentioned and love it!!!
I love Salmon, had it twice last week. Yours looks delish, bravo!

I am so glad you found me, for I FOUND YOU! I am an amateur cooker and need all the help I can get, Darling! I am so glad to be one of your newest followers too. This is great stuff you have here.
Also, I am a Tennessee gal. Born and raised outside of Chattanooga, and now residing in S.C. The name, Smoky Mountain Cafe, is simply music to my ears! Keep up the good work, and I can't wait to see more goodies!
Love,
Taryn
gosh, I love salmon, and yours look super fresh! I hate salmon drenched in sauce though, because why kill the great taste of salmon? just a simple seasoning like yours will be perfect!
I am afraid of fish too, so you put it ON foil onto the grill. I have to try it!
p.s. I am sorry I am running late, I am sending out your prize today!
My hubby is a huge fan of salmon. Me...not so much. But this looks like a recipe he would love and I would try!
Until a few years ago, I though all salmon tasted like the stuff in the cans. I too was raised near the ocean and we never had salmon when I was a child. If I wanted fish I would go down to the river and catch it.
I love salmon, but for so long, I was like you and didn't try it at home. But it is so easy, and this recipe sounds so yummy! and your picture is great!
We have grilled salmon like this about once a week! We put lemon pepper and onion powder on ours! We call it salmon Sunday at the Pond. :)
I love salmon, the pictures are just mouthwatering!
I love salmon, only I am afraid of grilling it. Thanks for the tip on how to grill it. It looks delish!
you're right! on delicious, fresh items, simple is always best. and that looks divine!
Even I can't mess this up!! Looks delicious!! :)
My family love salmon, and this recipe sounds very simple, but then salmon always nice prepare in a simple way.
Cheers,

I love smoking or plank smoking (really grilling) salmon for my family. I just don't like it. It always looks so good and smells so good, but I can't get over my fish aversion. They don't mind, more for them:)
Yours looks great! McCormick also has a fish version of GrillMates now that we tried.
I've lately started trying more simple dishes and they really are the best!
You are 100% spot on with simple is best and the Montreal Steak Seasoning is one of my go-to mixes, it's so versatile and tasty!
This looks delicious .. I am anxiously awaiting grilling season here.
I love salmon, this looks wonderful.
I'm fromt the gulf coast too!!
That salmon looks delicious!
Nice! And Yay You for getting over your fear o' fish. I bet that fennel is lovely with the salmon. You know, if you could find some fresh fennel bulbs, you could caramelize them w/some onion and use that as a side/garnish. That'd be pretty yummy, too:)
I used to be afraid to cook fish, too! The first fish I cooked was Salmon! It turned out delicious-like yours. Although I haven't tried grilling it yet, you've inspired me!
looks good and so simple
Love Salmon... cooked, grilled or even raw! :)
I love Salmon, especially when it's grilled! I wish my husband liked it! What is wrong with that man, he doesn't know what he's missing!
Simple is best I agree with you, love salmon yours looks mmmmmmmm
Grazie
I agree that simple is best. Your salmon looks perfectly cooked. I'll have to give this recipe a try. We always broil it and haven't tried it on the grill for fear of it sticking. The pan is a terrific idea.
Thanks Katherine.
Sam
Mm, salmon is one of my favorite fishes. Sometimes, I have to restrain myself. I love that it's tender and flaky, but it's got enough "meat" to it so that it doesn't flake apart on you. Great job!
It has been a while since I used the Montreal seasoning and this reminds me how much I used to enjoy it. I need to pick up another one at the store. Simple is always better and this looks healthy yet tasty. I need to eat more fish.
This looks good and easy. Will hunt for the seasoning.
I just bought some salmon. I think I'll try this.
So intimidated with cooking any kind of seafood myself. Would really like to try out that seasoning on salmon sometime.
So wonderful to find your blog. I am going to try this "grilled Salmon" I haven't ever been able to fix salmon correct, thank you so much for all your hard work & sharing. I really appreciate it.
If you liked this, you will probably love my grilled salmon recipe; different seasonings, but the same premise. Check it out:
