My oldest daughter asked me the other day if I "was going all organic and crazy". Organic and crazy, like they go hand in hand. I looked at her with a crazy gleam in my eye and told her I wasn't going ALL organic and crazy is a matter of opinion. Lauren became concerned when she found not one, but two containers of non-fat, organic yogurt in the fridge. She's my big time picky eater. The only green she eats are M & M's, and Jolly Ranchers. She could live off of pizza, chicken nuggets, tacos and meatball subs. Oh the evil grin that crosses my face each and every time I sneak vegetables in on her and her sister. Beautiful moments.
I thought smoothies would be a great alternative to some of our snacking habits. This smoothie recipe is adapted from Ellie Krieger. It's a great base for smoothie making, the possibilities are almost endless. My husband and I liked this smoothie, the homegirlz were good sports and gave this a try, but they don't like peach and they did not like the peach smoothies. We have had good luck with banana and strawberry.
1/2 cup nonfat or 1 percent lowfat milk
1/2 cup nonfat plain yogurt
1 cup unsweetened frozen peaches
1 tablespoon honey, plus more to taste
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch ground nutmeg
Pinch ground ginger
Put all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
Several pluses to smoothies, seriously tasty, healthy, VERY filling, and easy on your wallet!

A peach smoothie sounds sooo good! We've been on a total smoothie craze here and would love to make a peach one very soon!
How can they not like peaches? I love them and the smoothie sounds great with the warm weather we are having!
I am sorry that the peaches were not a hit. They look good to me:-)
Congratulations on your award:-)
I love that smoothie recipe. I usually do mine with blue berries and add ground flax to it. (Yep, more healthy stuff to sneak in on those homegirlz.) Blessings, SusanD
I have a picky eater too. He only eats pizza, hot dogs, chicken nuggets and green beans. That's it!!!
LOL -- my two older kids sound exactly like your picky daughter! I love smoothies, but have not tried to make them myself. I can't wait to try this one! It looks delicious and healthy. I love how it can be adapted to use different fruits.
KIDS! They just don't know what they are missing do they? I'll eat peach anything.
Coming from Georgia the peach state it really surprised me when the best peach I have ever eaten came stright off the side of a roadside stand in California. I swear, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. That was back in 1999 and I haven't had one that good since, shame isn't it?
I love smoothies, what a yummy treat!
Katherine, this is one great looking smoothie. Kids don't know what they are missing. Just means there's more for you.
I can't wait for the Georgia peaches. We live only a few minutes from the Georgia line here in the NC mountains. They have the best peaches in the whole wide world.

Katherine I love that smoothie recipe now I need breakfast.Love it.
Make sure you tell your daughters in no uncertain terms that insanity is hereditary. We inherit it from our children.
Looking at your smoothie reminds me that I need to make more peach jam for my fussy little weasel. Talk about a child to drive you crazy! He hates everything!
lol! I used to be EXACTLY like your daughter! my mother practically had to FORCE anything green down my throat, fruits included! but tastes always change. now I can't live without fruits and vegetables. I used to puke at the sight of broccoli, and now I eat it everyday as my FAV veg! so don't despair, your daughter may be chowing down vegetables soon!
What a perfect pairing...a peach smoothie and a lovely award! Feels like summer! :)
That sounds good, I have never made a smoothie! I did go to Jamba Juice yesterday for the very 1st time!
Yum, that peach smoothie looks good. I would love one with fresh Georgia peaches!
Sounds delicious! My hubby likes peaches so much. Probably he'll love this recipe.
I love peach smoothies, but given a choice I would probably eat the whole pan of brownies instead.
I think your daughter's diet and I could become good friends. (Licks lips.)
I have been on a total smoothie kick lately - banana, frozen berries, a splash of milk and maybe a dollop of greek yogurt.
I'm wondering why you aren't doing some food posts over in the kitchen at the Colony.
My boys were making strawberry smoothies just yesterday!
that looks so good
That would've been so good today. It was nice and warm and sunny :)
I had my first every smoothie last month at our coffee/bagel shop downtown...it just so happened to be peach...I doubt it was organic but is sure was lip-smackin'!
;D
OOOOOOoooo looks soooooo YuMma LuMmA !
I was looking for a basic smoothie recipe to use up some frozen fruit. This is perfect.
yum- I love the nutmeg in there!
My blender died! :-( I'm so sad. I have to get a new one, but have no idea what kind to get as I don't want to have another crappy one. But I love, no, adore peach smoothies!!!!!
If this is what "organic and crazy" means in your house, I am in! This smoothie looks like pure heaven.

I am going to try this recipe as I have been going smoothie crazy lately. I just tried a new tropical one this morning. Ha Ha, I loved the organic= crazy idea from your daughter.
I have never made a smoothie in my life, but I must say after seeing the delicious photos I am rethinking my decision.
Mmmm I bet that's delicious!

I love peach smoothies!! When the weather gets hot I like to have one everyday. I'll eat the homegirlz share! YUMMMMMYYY!!
Hi there! Thanks for the yummy recipe. I haven't made a smoothie in so long! What a great way to get the kids to eat their fruits!

Congrats on your award!! Haha, your duaghter sounds hysterical! One day I'm sure she'll be just as into organics as you are. In the mean time, this peach smoothie sounds fabulous. Being from GA, I consider myself a good southern peach, and I just happen to adore peaches. I can't wait to try out this smoothie!
There must be something in the air...spring maybe...but I've been looking up smoothy recipes lately. Thanks for posting!
I really dislike peaches but that smoothie sounds amazing! I might just have to run out and get some. Your recipe posted is similar to one I use with frozen mixed berries.
