Creating a recipe using only six-ingredients was more of a challenge than I had originally thought.  I did quite a bit of reading, researching, and testing.  Plus, coming off of carpal tunnel surgery last Friday on my dominant left hand made cooking, especially chopping more of a challenge.

I have to tell you that creating this shrimp dish really pushed me to get outside of my Cajun "comfort zone".  On our stay-at-home date night last night, A.J. and I were thrilled to enjoy this dish together.  Although it's cheesy, it is amazingly light and didn't weigh us down.  The cream cheese gave the sauce a nice luxurious texture, while the Feta cheese combined with the garlic and chives, gave the sauce a tart pop that put it over the top.  Try this on your date night with your sweetie or just indulge yourself because you deserve it baby!

Shrimp Acadienne en Fromage Frais

1-1/2 lbs. Shrimp, peeled and de-veined
6 ounces Feta cheese finely crumbled
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1-1/2 tablespoons chopped chives
1 clove garlic, minced
3/4 cup white wine (Sauvignon Blanc)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F

In a large bowl mash the cream cheese and the Feta cheese together until thoroughly blended.

Add the chives, garlic and white wine and continue stirring to make a sauce.

Place the raw shrimp in a prepared baking dish and pour the sauce over the raw shrimp.

Bake in a covered baking dish for 30 minutes at 400 degrees F.

Serve with a green salad and a slice of toasted garlic bread.

  4. That looks delicious! My favorite 6-ingredient recipe is Baked Eggs with Tomato and Spinach: 8 eggs (separated), half an onion, bunch of spinach, can of diced tomatoes, Parmesan Cheese, Mozzarella Cheese.

Mix eggs whites with cheeses. Saute onions, add spinach and tomatoes. Add to egg mixture and pour into small baking pan. Top with egg yolks and bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes until puffed and golden. Delicious with crusty french bread!

  5. It sounds wonderful!

A great 6-ingredient side dish? Pasta, spinach, a can of tomatoes, olive oil, garlic and parmesan (salt & pepper too, so I guess that's 8).

  6. My favorite six ingredient recipe is a stuffed green pepper: green pepper, ground beef, tomato sauce, rice, mozzarella cheese and onion. Cook ground beef with onion drain grease, cook rice as directed, clean pepper outside and scoop out inside, add tomato sauce and cooked rice to beef and then stuff in pepper and top with cheese and bake

  8. Katherine,
My favorite 6-ingredient recipe has to be Easy Oven Chicken Parm.
Just mix one jar of spaghetti sauce with about 1/2 tsp. oregano and 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese in a 13x9-inch baking dish. Add 4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts (about 1 1/2 lbs), turning to coat with sauce. Cover; bake @ 400F for about 30 minutes. Remove cover; top chicken with 8 oz sliced mozzarella and more Parmesan cheese. Bake 5 mins. longer. Serve with hot cooked spaghetti or other pasta. Delicious and NO FRYING!!

  13. Your recipe sounds delicious and I can't wait to try it for dinner one night this week.

I have my favorite 6 ingredient meal in the crock pot right now.

2 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
    2 T. chili powder
    1/2 - 1 t. cayenne
    1 t. cumin
    1 jar salsa
    2 limes, halved
    1/2 bunch cilantro

Place the chicken breasts in the crockpot, cover with spices (I mix them into the salsa) and salsa. Squeeze the juice from the limes on top and throw in the limes (discard limes before eating). Toss the cilantro on top and cook on low for 7-8 hours.

Can be used for chicken tacos or burritos.

  17. Love your mouth watering Shrimp Acadienne en Fromage Frais! Can't wait to try your recipe. Here's my submission.

    Creamy Asian Beef Noodle
8 ounces soba (Japanese buckwheat noodles)
1 1/2 pounds of skirt steak, cut in half or thirds to fit in skillet
1 pound(s) of snow peas, stem ends removed
    2 tsp. of soy sauce
8 ounce(s) of 8 ounce Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened
    2 Green Onion, chopped

In a pot of boiling salted water, cook noodles until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Heat a large skillet over medium-high. Season steak with salt and pepper. Cook, turning once, until medium-rare, 3 to 5 minutes per side. Transfer steak to a cutting board and loosely cover with aluminum foil (reserve skillet with juices).

Add snow peas to skillet and toss with juices. Cook on medium-high heat, tossing occasionally until crisp-tender, 2 to 3 minutes. Add noodles, soy sauce, and cream cheese, cook until warmed through, about 1 minute. Transfer to serving bowls. Slice steak and place on top of noodles. Sprinkle with green onions and enjoy.

  18. Holy MOLY! That crealy shrimp looks divine. I rarely ever crave creamy or super cheesy dishes but lately is is ALL I want haha

My go-to 6-ingredient dish would have to be: 1 cup of cooked corn pasta, 1/2 cup cubed baked tofu, 1 cup sautéed frozen broccoli, handful of baby spinach, drizzle of olive oil and a very very generous sprinkle of grated Romano cheese... stir it all together while the pasta is warm. YUM :-D

  20. great recipe idea!

My fav 6 ingredient recipe is a quick pasta dish...

    1 lb rigatoni
    1 large onion, chopped
a couple of cloves of garlic, minced
    1 lb fresh tomatoes, chopped
    handful of basil, roughly chopped
    1 lb fresh mozzarella
    2 tbsp olive oil
    salt & pepper

Cook pasta according to package instructions. While the pasta is cooking, saute the onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat, then add the chopped tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Cut the mozzarella into bite sized pieces, drain the pasta (when it is al dente) and toss everything together. Top with the chopped basil and you are good to go!
