But let me back up a little here. We had a somewhat tense day. The girls are allergic to chores and addicted to texting...I have cleaning OCD on Saturdays and their dad can't stand the incessant texting or hearing me fussing...a recipe for...total meltdown. We avoided the total meltdown, but I was still a tad bit edgy when I left.
As I was strolling out of the door, I could hear them tell A.J. what time they wanted to eat and all of the things they would not eat. Oh yeah, I knew I was really going to enjoy my evening with those last few sentences rolling around in my head for the next few hours.
When I arrived back home with a few extra bucks in my pocket, I tied for second place, all was quiet in our home. Maybe a little bit too quiet.
The family room was still neat and the kitchen was immaculate. Kaitlin was in the kitchen serving herself a bowl of ice cream. Oh my goodness, they didn't eat and it's 10:00 PM!
They ate, and Kaitlin photographed it because she thought it was "blog worthy". "You see, Mom, we can eat more than tacos when you're not here. Look, I took a picture with your camera. Do you want to see it? You need to put this on your blog. Don't I take good pictures?"
Fried chicken tenders from Food City (our local grocer), Bob Evans mashed potatoes, canned green beans and Kaitlin made the gravy all by herself and she said it totally rocked!
I guess my work here is done.
Ahhhh, don't ya just love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it and it is more than "blog worthy" - it's fantastic. They did a great job and cleaned up too? Wow. Way cool.
ReplyDeleteTell Kaitlin I think SHE rocks.
Sam
First, food was lovely, hooray for the kids, want the recipe, glad you had a night of, etc, etc, etc... Yadda, yadda, yadda
ReplyDeleteBut you play Bunco for money???
And you crushed the other ladies!!!
Now that rocks!
You've taught them well; it was a balanced meal and looked tasty.
ReplyDeleteI've heard the word Bunco but not sure what it means; sounds like you had a great time though...it's always good to get a break from those we love and who love us.
LOL that is totally hilarious! And it's nice to know my kids aren't the only ones with chore allergies!
ReplyDeleteWe had the meltdown last weekend around here!
Yes Ma'am, you have taught them well!!! Don't it feel good? :)
ReplyDeleteI know it felt good to leave them to figure it out and to go and to earn extra money having a good time. Why not, you deserve it!
Happy OCD cleaning day!
hahahaha nice
ReplyDeleteWoohoo.. good job on photo, Kaitlin :)
ReplyDeleteAw, that's so great! Congrats on the bunko win too :)
ReplyDeleteOne more finger pried away from the cradle... She's made a good start, teach some more, Mom!
ReplyDeleteFunny! I love how she recognized it as blog worthy.
ReplyDeleteCarry on, Bunco queen:)
How neat.... The key is that they are ALL learning from YOU. That is one healthy meal to have when Mama is not at home!!!!! TERRIFIC!!!!
ReplyDeleteBet they don't want you away very often though... ha ha
Hugs,
Betsy
What a cute post! It seems that you are rubbing off on your family. My little sister is addicted to texting as well. I won't even tell you how many she uses in a month. It's an obscene number. Somewhere around 2,000+. Okay so I did tell you. Insane!
ReplyDeleteLove this post!
ReplyDeleteColorado is Bob Evanless.
Do you buy Bob Evans products at the supermarket?
I've eaten at Bob Evans restaurant while visiting in the midwest - talk about "home cookin". I just didn't know if they went to Bob Evans and got Mashed Potato Take out, or if it was purchased at the market.

When I go out, they're on their own! And believe me, I don't give it a second thought as there is always gumbo, etouffee, spaghetti, shrimp and more, in my freezer. Thaw and nuke! Looks like they managed nicely. Glad that you won, cher!
ReplyDeleteThey did a fantastic job! What a comforting meal!
ReplyDeleteI haven't played bunco in ages. What a fun game!
NOW you have completely impressed me. When my kids were still home...the oldest one would have opted for Kraft mac and cheese, the middle child would have done something experimental like tomato soup with the mac and cheese mixed in and youngest child would have hit the doritos...and Hubby? He would have waited for me to come home and fix something. So yes, my dear...awesome job.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that wonderful to know that our hard work paid off?
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet, I love it! p.s. I wish I could get a group together for bunco!
ReplyDeleteThey did pretty good for themselves!
ReplyDelete..I have one who has been known to eat ramen straight out of the package for dinner.
oh how cute! good for them!
ReplyDeleteWell, now that that issue is squared away, go win more money! Glad you didn't come back to a pigsty or hungry people!
ReplyDeleteI didn't let anyone have their own cell phone till they went to college, and texting is off limits during meals. Oh, and don't even think of interrupting a conversation to answer a text. They tell me I'm worse than any evil dictator ever thought of being. So tell the homegirlz they don't have it too bad!
That's sweet!! I love how she took the picture for you!
ReplyDelete(:- It's good to see you retiring gracefully:-) Some gals just don't know when to throw in the towel.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure your work isn't done :)
ReplyDeleteI love that she said the photo was 'blog worthy'. My hubby asks everytime we eat "hey, do you want to photograph this before I eat?" Mr. Smartypants!
Nice to know they won't starve though.
That is one very tasty looking meal and very blog worthy. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteThey did a fantastic job! How nice!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome. You done did good with her!!!;)
ReplyDeleteWow! That is great. I'm still stuck on the kitchen being immaculate part!
ReplyDeleteLaughed myself silly. Yay to the family - and very blog-worthy. They're all keepers. And everyone needs a little bit of surprise now and then.
ReplyDeleteLOL...Kids.
ReplyDeleteRamona
That is so adorable :) The kiddos just absorb that stuff, don't they!
ReplyDeleteI am rocking with laughter. Well done on all counts!!
