When I posted the picture to the left last week, I received many comments complimenting my kitchen. I appreciate all of your comments and compliments. Thoughts ran through my mind...if only they knew...
The vase of flowers, the distance, hides so many sins.
The only time I turned this blog over to anyone else, my children, they let it out that I am a neat freak. My husband chides me and says I can spot a crumb at thirty yards.
The truth be told, when I cook many accidents and spills happen. When I spill for some reason, I splatter and spill up and not down.
Can you see the splats on the wall?
How about now?
This close and gross! Now you know...I splat A LOT!
Yeah, I couldn't take it any more. A.J. is planning to paint the family room, breakfast area and kitchen. I told him that painting wasn't the answer here.
We hid my skeletons. Even though it will not be grouted until tomorrow and won't be sealed until next week, ah, it feels so much better and cleaner in la cucina!
I think I know what you were really doing. You were making yourself a good excuse to need a backsplash ( which looks fabulous!)It's okay, I won't tell anyone. :)
ReplyDeleteI love it!! Those are great colors. I know you are so excited and now we are all excited as to the creative dishes you will stir up with our fear of splashing! Yea, yea, yea!!
ReplyDeleteThe backsplash look gorgeous and it's a great idea! Same thing happens to me with splatting, impossible to clean.
ReplyDeleteI love the tile. My hubby has been wanting to do this in our kitchen and I've been putting him off because there is not much space between the counter top and cabinet. Now I see it will look fabulous. AND that will take care of my splatter messes too. lol. Blessings, Susan
ReplyDeleteIt looks grogeous Katherine. Perfect solution, love your countertop as well. Pretty, pretty!!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is AMAZING! What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteOh, it gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI hate splats that won't wash off!! It looks gorgeous!! It just brings it all together. I love it.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous Katherine! I agree on the stove, mine is similar
ReplyDeleteand I'm going for stainless and gas SOON!
Carol
Hurray a fellow neat freak! You are a smart woman we did the EXACT same thing a few years ago, wipes right off, you will love it!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love your backsplash! It is beautiful, and will be so functional! A tile backsplash is pretty much a necessity for clutz like me (actually, a plastic tarp would probably be even better, but not look quite as nice!) Your kitchen is gorgeous, and I am sure it is a fun place for you to whip up all of those fabulous dishes that you are so kind to share with us!
ReplyDeleteYour blacksplash looks great it took me months to talk the hubby into one sure helps. I am the messy cook myself. It's a good thing I have a kitchen bi_ch to clean up my mess. Love it.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful Katherine.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any idea what brand are you looking for?
Cheers,
Elra

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately my stove dreams are only pipe dreams. We cannot afford to stimulate the economy that much right now.
ReplyDeleteI know! I will write to the President and ask him to buy a S/S Viking, gas stove for me!
I agree with Jodie...it's a good case for a backsplash:-)
ReplyDeleteI need to the do the same thing!
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous!
You lucky girl... it looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the back splash. I love your kitchen. I myself have white subway tile but I would love pressed tin. I have such a small kitchen that anything dark I put in it just closes it in more. I miss cooking in my own kitchen but for now I make do.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tile work, I love it! I have all stainless steel in my kitchen and it shows the handprints, splashes and drips only to be cleaned with the special cleaner to be streak free (which mine has to be otherwise it bugs me to no end!), so give that a thought. There are some brands that claim they repel the spotting, so check into those as well if you decide to go looking one day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely kitchen you have!
I love your kitchen and the tile. We finally replaced our stove with a dual fuel model - gas on top and electric in the oven and we love it. Now I want a fancy refrigerator.......our wish list never ends.
ReplyDeleteSam
Katherine I just left you an award on my blog come and get it.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is fabulous and your flowers are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you stopped by my blog, have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings!
Your tile is LOVELY! Hey, we could form a splat club! Although I tend to go for the illusion of clean. I'd love to update my kitchen, but I want stainless everywhere ... not because it's trendy ... I've wanted it forever. I also have a black stove ... it shows everything. I miss my old stainless steel topped one. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe backsplash is beautiful. I am a mess when I cook and could use that!! I'm not one that really care what kind of stove I have but my husband talks about a Viking....he sees them on the food network...trust me, we DO NOT have one of those...gorgeous but expensive!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Lord. You got nothing on me and my splats. Those were dew drops compared to the damage I cause on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteAren't splats the sign of a good cook?? Your kitchen looks fabulous...it took me 3 months after getting our kitchen remodeled last summer to commit to a backsplash-yours is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe tile backsplash is beautiful. I hope you'll start liking your stove. I've got something similar. Gas would be nice. So would double ovens, but the budget is a bigger reality.
ReplyDeleteCute post, and great kitchen!
ReplyDeleteNAOmni
LOVE the backsplash!! Excellent colour choice! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen and your stove Katherine!=)
ReplyDeletehaha i love your little vent session :)
ReplyDeleteEven with a few "character marks" your kitchen is gorgeous! Those marks just prove that you USE your kitchen and enjoy cooking. They're a good thing. Trust me! :)
ReplyDeleteHa! You should see my kitchen!
ReplyDeleteMy splats are everywhere, on appliances... etc.
And I have a patchwork, mismatched old kitchen... yours looks like a work of art next to mine!
i love the Backsplash!!!!!! it is gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteby the way.... i tagged you on my blog :)
That blackspash looks great...love it :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks fantastic! I don't like my backsplash at all. It needs a lot of help!
ReplyDeletei love the backsplash. your kitchen is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's still a lovely kitchen...we all have a few "splats", I'm sure. ;o)
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, I do feel better knowing you aren't 100% perfect! LOL Thanks for sharing.
Take it from her brother - she's always been a neat freak. When we were children, her bedroom was always immaculate. I grew up thinking that girls were just naturally neat. Then I had two daughters of my own. I'm still waiting for their neat genes to kick in.
ReplyDeleteThat backsplash it beautiful!! I'm so jealous. I talked to the hubs about replacing the countertops and mentioned tileing (tiling?) the backsplash. I will show him your picture so he knows what I mean. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is gorgeous, I would love to cook in this room.
ReplyDeleteKatherine...my kitchen cabinets, counters and appliances are almost identical to yours! I love your tile backsplash...I don't have one, you are giving me a great idea!! Looks great!
