Supernatural Brownies

Since we've been eating a little lighter and healthier the past few days, I think it's time to reward ourselves with a decadent dessert. Who's in?

Reeni from Cinnamon Spice and Everything Nice posted this recipe a week or two ago and I was ga-ga. Reenie makes the most incredible confections and pasta dishes; I heart Reeni's blog.

I am a fan cake and cupcakes and yes Blonde Duck I like pies, but there's just something so satisfying about a moist, chocolaty brownie that makes you feel all is right with the world.

Supernatural Brownies by Nick Malgieri

16 tbsp. unsalted butter, plus more for greasing
8 oz. bittersweet chocolate, cut into 1⁄4" pieces
4 eggs1 cup sugar
1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1⁄2 tsp. fine salt
1 cup flour

1. Heat oven to 350°. Grease a 9" x 13" baking pan with butter and line with parchment paper; grease paper. Set pan aside.

2. Pour enough water into a 4-quart saucepan that it reaches a depth of 1". Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low. Combine butter and chocolate in a medium bowl; set bowl over saucepan. Cook, stirring, until melted and smooth, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; set aside.

3. Whisk together eggs in a large bowl. Add sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt; whisk to combine. Stir in chocolate mixture; fold in flour. Pour batter into prepared pan; spread evenly. Bake until a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean, 30–35 minutes. Let cool on a rack. Cut and serve.

Chocolate Frosting (by Reeni) -

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
3/4 cup to 1 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons milk

Melt chocolate and butter together over low heat. Pour into a medium sized mixing bowl and beat in powdered sugar, vanilla and milk. Add confectioners' or milk if needed to get the right consistency.

Make these brownies today, I know you will heart them!

Oh, I'm totally in! Let's do the indulgent reward thing! I love Reeni's blog, too, and was absolutely craving these brownies after I saw them on her site. Now that you've made them--and they look SUPER delicious on in your pictures--I'm thinking that I need to just break down and make them myself! Man do they look good!

If I get the chance to choose my last dessert ahead of time, it will involve a brownie. Quite possibly this one.

Reeni does make the best desserts doesn't she? Did you see the little cupcakes she has up right now? Thanks for your well wishes, I'm feeling slightly better today. I've turned the corner!

I like blondies! In fact, I ADORE blondies! I just have no one to eat them with. Just like pie. Le sigh.

I would eat brownies, and I make them for Ben on special occasions, but I'm allergic to chocolate!

How sweet!! Weren't these such a yummy treat? They just melt in your mouth. I couldn't stop eating them!!
You made my day. I heart your blog too!!

Mmm, they look so fudgy and delicious, just the way brownies should be. Yum!

Oh man, you totally had me at the word "supernatural" in the recipe title! How can one possibly turn down chocolate decadence with that word in it? I'm not even a big dessert eater and it's totally necessary that I consume these. In quantity. YUM!

AndreaLeigh said...

i love recipes that don't have too many steps or ingredients, and this fits the bill.

I will heart you even more if you could send me one of those right now!

Why do I always check out blogs when I'm hungry? It's like going to the grocery store on an empty stomach-never a good idea!

Nothing like a bit of chocolate overload to brighten your day. These looks wonderful! I know for a fact these would not last long in my house, even from the hubby who claims chocolate isn't the greatest flavor. Yes, people like this exist, can you believe?
