Thanksgiving...Food...Family

I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. Ours was too good to be true check this out.

Remember when I said that when we got to New Orleans I was going to eat at Zea's and A.J. would be there drinking one of their micro-brews? Well here he is with his micro-brew and his mom.

His dinner entree choice was Asian Chicken Salad.

Mine was Wood-Fired Trout with Shrimp Etoufee (Ay-to-fay) with Zea's signature Corn Grits and Red Beans and Rice as sides. I shared the red beans with the homegirlz.
This A.J. lending a hand in the kitchen on Thanksgiving day. Hmmm, do we see a pattern here with his right hand?

A.J. and his brother (our host) putting the finish touches on Cajun Oyster Stew, I'll have that recipe for you tomorrow!

A beautiful, sunny, 75 degree day, we ate outside, in tents because in Southeast Louisiana, it's going to rain and it did, just a little.

All beautiful and quiet, before the carnage.

Oven roasted turkey.

Cajun fried turkey - my personal choice

Rotisserie beef tenderloin.

Turkey gravy. My contribution.

Spinach Madeline

Oyster Dressing

I think it's against the law to have Thanksgiving without this...Green Bean Casserole.

Baked macaroni and cheese, another classic.

Looks like you had a fabulous Thanksgiving! It was just three of us for dinner, but I felt like I cooked for 100 people. I really missed getting the chance to spend the holiday with my family. This is the third year that I haven't been able to make it home for a holiday. You are very lucky to be surrounded by family and friends for Thanksgiving. I'm so glad that you had a wonderful time!!

Please don't worry about getting to the Post Office. I've also been in one of those whirl winds and I totally understand.

Your feast looks soooo wonderful!!

I cracked up when I read the word Etoufee. Harry called Shelby 'Etoufee' for the first year of her life and I haven't even thought of that in a while. I know, he's a nut but he liked the way it sounded. He seems to have a nickname for everyone.

My mama would always make the Oyster Stew and Oyster Dressing and I haven't had any in years. It made my taste buds long for some. I would also love the spinich recipe, please.

Gald yall had such a wonderful time and got there and back home safely! Now Happy MOnday!

WOW!!!! I realize I am pitiful, but I could just imagine being around when everybody went down for the half time nap, and being there to sample the leftovers...there may not be a heaven on earth, but methinks you came pretty close.
Keep on keepin-on...

Thanksgiving in a wedding tent. That is just too far out of my imagination. It was snowy and 34 here! It looks like it was a wonderful day, and I'm so glad you got to go home for the weekend.
